Well, remember how I said it was going to be nice to finally know whether or not I'll be staying or going from here by the end of this month? And that one post where I said it was funny how I always seemed to be saying that I'll be leaving Iraq any time now, but somehow it never seems to happen? Well guess what? It happened again. sigh. We got an extension until July 27th on our eviction notice, due to some legal questions about GBG property... a technicality. So I'm here for at least one more month. How many times have I said that now? Anyway, it's actually a good thing because it gives us more time to try and work with the Iraqi Government to secure this property for long term use, so all this means is that we actually have a better chance of staying much more long-term now. Or I could be on a plane to Thailand on July 28th. Is it Groundhog Day? Actually I'm psyched, because it means I'm that much closer to being able to say "I lived in Baghdad for 3 years." No, don't try to understand, no one can but me.
Ok, just because I just came across it, and it's about as horrible as anything else I've come across relating to US Military behaviour in Iraq, I'm going to link you to a video about some illegal warfare tactics our fine military used while attacking Fallujah. My favorite parts are when the US soldier kills an unarmed injured civilian, and the whole thing where we bombed the city with White Phosphorous... an illegal chemical weapon which we had once upon a time signed international treaties not to ever use, and which, by the way, our government vehemently denied using. But watch the video for yourself, and then tell me that we're still the good guys.

I know, but if I had simply titled the post 'I Got You Babe', I would have gotten alot of funny looks and it wouldn't have carried the Groundhog Day connotation nearly as well.

TF: Thanks dude... I look at the site sometimes and dream... heh. Anyway, It's hard for me to make a commitment to something like that until I know what the hell is going on with my camp here in Baghdad... Obviously, if our property issues get resolved, I'll be staying here a bit longer. Hopefully Antarctica doesn't have a San Andreas fault line or something and will still be there whenever I do finally tear myself away from here...
