I got a new motorcycle! That's it right there. Pretty, right? It's a Honda Shadow Spirit 1100. It's a lotta bike. I picked it up at Rusty Palmer's in Honesdale, PA the other day and rode it back on route 402. Saw an owl swoop right in front of me... in the middle of the day! Awesome ride. Awesome bike. I'm pretty elevated this week. This is me on the bike:
I look like a biker! I'll fool 'em all.
So I'll be selling my old 250 soon... I'm going to do a little work on it and make it pretty first. Plus I promised to teach Julie how to ride, and considering that the 1100 might be too much bike for me, a seasoned rider (snicker), and that the 250 is insured until August anyway, I'll keep it around for a bit.
So if any body's interested, let me know. I put around 2000 miles on it, so it's still pretty virginal and in great shape, and I gotta tell ya it was a fantastic bike to learn on. It's really strong for a 250 and it's pretty cool looking. Real bikers often mistook me for another real biker on it and gave me the cool biker wave all the time. For the low low blue book price of $2,000, it could all be yours:
I knew this post would one day come...

If all you're going to do is mutter, you might as well go track down some aliens or something, Shia.

now you're talking - that's a big bike. try not to drop it.

Actually, I did drop it on the first day I had it... I drove it by the shop where I'd bought the 250 to show it off to the proprietor there (name of Mike also, nice guy) and as I was turning to leave, it got the better of me. A couple of guys at the shop saw me struggling with it and ran out to help, so no harm done, but I think that that is supposed to be the most embarrassing thing to have happen to you in front of other bikers. Especially if they have to help you like that. Luckily I don't really know any better yet, being a new biker, so I was able to get away with pretending that it was no big deal.

My brother has an 1100CC Honda - and he dropped his going slow around a turn at a bank drive thru - and he damaged it pretty good. Needed a new crank case and some other minor stuff. There's a trick to getting those beasts up off the ground if you do let one fall. Unfortunately I can't really explain it to you hahaha.

I think the trick is not to let it happen in the first place. I think I'm also real lucky that I'm still gymming it. I'm not sure that there aren't a couple of times when being stronger than I was last year didn't help me to keep that monstrosity of a machine up off of the ground. There should probably be a law against selling those things to people who can't leg press 270 lbs.
