Before I get to the northern half of Ireland, I wanted to post a quick one with bad cellphone photos about a trip to Denver I took for work a week or so ago. I had been there back in January, just a week after marijuana was legalized recreationally. So it was cool to go back 6 months later to see how the whole thing was progressing. I was out in suburbia this time, so I checked out a different store named The Green Solution, pictured above in all its generic run-down shopping plaza glory.
They don't seem comfortable quite yet with having their pictures taken while perusing or working in a legal weed shop despite the complete legality of it (too soon!), so to be a nice guy I had trippy fun with face blurring tech. The stores seem to be upgrading their appearances and offerings, and it seems like new rules are getting put into place as time goes by. Once gaining admittance after showing ID, you have to wait in line until a customer service rep can attend to you personally. Apparently no one is to wander around the pot shops all willy-nilly anymore.
A more professional display than the wild west of January, but still very strange to see.
There were plenty of options this time around too; I suppose their supply problems of the early weeks are a thing of the past. Edibles! Cookies, brownies, candy, rice crispy treats...
And pain cremes, lotions and ointments! They are really embracing all of the exciting possibilities. They also had eCig marijuana cartridges, concentrated oils and waxes, and a plethora of weird shit I'd never heard of. But just in case you think they might've forgotten their core demographic:
Another new rule since I was last there is that now any items purchased must be kept in a child proof safety bag. The keys are just for size comparison, because why not. The zipper has a tricky lever thing on it so that the kids don't "accidentally" smoke all of mom and dad's pot. I suppose it was only a matter of time before a paper bag law went into effect, but damn, that was quick.
I can kind of understand it though, at least for the edibles. I mean, cookies and candies made with pot don't look terribly different from normal cookies and candies, and it is possible to get really sick from overdosing that way.
