It's been a busy year, including banner trips to the Mile High City, Dublin, Alaska, and New Orleans. School kept me hella busy on top of work, and my blog pays the price. I took a lot of math classes this year, which left me without fun school papers or class arguments to post. But on the bright side, math no longer intimidates me. In fact, I've discovered that I'm actually pretty good at it. The secret, which I heartily ignored in my high school days, is to apply yourself. Who knew?
Julie and I went out to the Starlight diner in Allentown to meet her college friend for an annual cookie exchange. Overhead was this massive flock of birds. They seemed to be flying north, but maybe they were just milling around. It made me think of something I'd read that said that, before the Europeans got here, massive flocks of birds were an extremely common sight. The pictures don't really convey the size of the flock, but I'd never seen so many in one formation.
Nature has gotten a bit more removed in the present day, encounters with it more unusual. Not to sound like some hippie douchebag. But it was pretty cool.
In the New Year, I'm looking forward to more cool trips—including another upcoming New Orleans-for-fun-trip—and finishing up my Associates degree with a 4.0. Also, I need to decide whether to go into deeper debt for my Bachelor's degree. The problem with online classes is that there are very few options; I haven't found an online Bachelor's degree that's anything other than a general liberal arts sort of thing or a too-specific-field sort of a thing that I'm not really interested in. I sort of would like to continue in the maths and sciences, but there don't seem to be any colleges that offer those online. Decisions decisions.
